Edwin Clingly Snr. was born on 11th June 1873 and was the second youngest child of Seigfrid Klingele (Frederick CLINGLY) and Anne WELLBURN. Baptised with the name Klingele on 26th June 1873, he was known as Clingly in subsequent records and within the family - as they all were. Edwin was a cabinet maker and married Beatrice ROWNTREE some time before 1912. He and his younger brother, William, married two ROWNTREE sisters, so their families were doubly related!

John Herbert is a retired antiques collector. One of his sons lives just outside Sunderland and the other lives with his family in Dallas, Texas, USA - where he has a reproduction furniture store.
