JOHN's page ...
John was born in Sunderland, England - which makes him a 'Mackem'.
He went to Richard Avenue Primary School, then Thornhill Comprehensive (where he was Head Boy in his final year) and did his A' Levels at City of Sunderland College, Bede Centre.
As well as being nuts about rocks, minerals, fossils (palaeontology) and natural disasters, John is naturally musical. He plays trumpet, drums and guitar amongst other things and was in a local band called Milo whilst at college in Sunderland.
He has abseiled off The Wearmouth Bridge in Sunderland for charity and taken part in The Keilder Challenge, working as part of a mixed able-bodied and disabled group.
He also took part in quite a few school productions, including acting and singing in Guys and Dolls and 'Dracula Spectacular', where he played an innkeeper, complete with ledderhosen.
Actually, he loves dressing up...but his wife Nicola doesn't seem to mind. Luckily.

He was on the Welfare Committee and rowed with Grey College Rowing Club. He also joined a university band as drummer. What a surprise!
