The Taylor family
The Taylor family (as far back as I have been able to get with them) appear to come from Northumberland. The earliest ancestor was a stonemason in Morpeth, which is just North of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. At some point, the family moved to Earsdon in Northumberland and settled there. His son followed in his footsteps and there are a number of Taylors buried in the churchyard of St. Alban's church, Earsdon. A daughter, Eleanor, managed to have no less than 4 'accidents' and ended up living in a small pit village in Durham with only a 'lodger' and her children. Definitely the black sheep of the family. I guess everyone has one. She was ours. One of her daughters, Elizabeth Taylor (not the actress), married into the Blenkinsop family and became the mother of my father's mother.
The Taylor family line:
Thomas b.Morpeth, Northumberland in 1788, d 1841 in Earsdon. He married Esther PEACOCK (b.1778 Hazon, Shilbottle, d. 1834 in Morpeth) and had 3 children - John, Elizabeth, and Eleanor (see below). He later married Elizabeth RIDLEY and had four further children - William, Thomas, Joseph and Dorothy.

Eleanor b.Morpeth, Northumberland in 1819. She did not marry but lived for a long time in Sacriston, County Durham and had one son, William, and three daughters - Ellen, Elizabeth and Mary Ann.

Elizabeth b.Witton Gilbert (near Sacriston) in 1851.She married Richard BLENKINSOP and had two sons, Richard and William and a daughter who was:

Elizabeth Ellen - b 1886 in Chester-Le-Street, County Durham. She married Thomas MORTON and had two sons (Thomas and John)and one daughter (Elizabeth): my uncle, father and aunt. Elizabeth Ellen died of kidney failure in 1918 at the early age of thirty-two, leaving a young family.
