The North-East of England.

Although the county boundaries have now changed, Northumberland and County Durham used to be North of the River Tyne and South of the Tyne respectively. The map on the right shows most of the towns and villages which my ancestors came from.

Todtnau is in an area of Germany called Loerrach, Baden, South Germany. The village is set in a valley at the edge of The Black Forest, fairly close to the borders with France and Switzerland. These days, it is a popular centre for ski-ing.
